For more than 20 years I have studied New Orleans through the lens of my camera. During that time, I have learned to appreciate her nuances, forgive her faults, relish the beauty of her architecture, savor the uniqueness of her culinary and musical heritage. When I made this photograph of Drew Brees walking onto the field of the Superdome I had no idea that I would look back at the photo for inspiration. For me it became a metaphor of stepping out onto the field of life and giving it my all. Laser focus. Amazing discipline. The ultimate athlete. A New Orleans hero. A community leader. A true role model.
