Covering hurricanes is a literal obstacle course for photographers. When I got the call from Natgeo to help their team with Hurricane Laura, a flood of Katrina memories filled my head. Fifteen years later, the storm still haunts me. The difference photographing both hurricanes is that I knew I could drive back home where there is electricity and running water after Laura, which was not Katrina’s case. My thoughts and prayers go to the people of Lake Charles and the surrounding communities. God speed with bringing back electricity.
