For more than 20 years I have studied New Orleans through the lens of my camera. During that time, I have learned to appreciate her nuances, forgive her faults, relish the beauty of her architecture, savor the uniqueness of her culinary and musical heritage. With each click of the camera I treasure this place a little more. These are my thoughts in words and pictures.

New Orleans Restaurant Culture

restaurant, New Orleans, black and white,

When I heard that the historic New Orleans restaurant Pascal’s Manale had been sold, I thought about a photo I made years ago of restaurant employee Edmond Montair. He was seated in front of an entire wall of photos of the famous and infamous who dined there through the generations. While we remember the notable clients and owners, I like to think about the generations of workers who kept the machine running, the bonds they formed, the fun they had, and the money they made. I hope that the new owners keep the tradition alive.
